Lake MacBride Walking Trail
Not too long ago we received a Facebook post which listed ten great microbreweries in Iowa. Big Grove Brewery in Solon, Iowa, was on the list. Their menu, particularly the ”From the Garden” section, looked interesting, so we made plans to meet there and goof off for an afternoon. I can vouch for the stout, Couscous Salad and Flourless Chocolate Torte. The Brewery has a large bar dining area, a separate dining room and an outdoor dining area. Not wishing to make other guests smile and say cheese, I only took a photo of the exterior.
Farm and Wild Flowers Along the Trail
Lake MacBride is just a hop down the road from Big Grove Brewery, so we enjoyed a stroll along the lake on the Lake MacBride Hiking Trails. We watched sail boaters and kayakers launching from Anglers’ Point which enthused my husband and me about kayaking. The small kayaks looked much easier to transport than canoe, and Lake MacBride’s “under 10 HP motors only” rule would make for restful paddling.
