Just when I felt too grown-up, too full of angst and too busy for magic, magic found me. It found me on Night of Luminaria in Galena, Illinois. The sidewalk below our second floor table at Fried Green Tomatoes overflowed with carolers, musicians and pedestrians with smiling faces. Shop, restaurant and hotel windows of the 19th century buildings on Main Street were filled with nostalgic holiday decorations and lights. Luminaries lined side streets, stairways, bridges and the river walk. I melted into the glow of its magic.
General Grant used the DeSoto House as his presidential campaign headquarters and Abraham Lincoln spoke from the DeSoto House balcony.
The Cúpla Sisters wish each of you a little magic and a ‘little vacation every day’ when you visit us on our blog. Happy Holidays.
Thanks Jacqueline. It really was lovely.
Wow!! Never been to Galena at Christmastime. Now I want to go up there and look at all the neat things. Happy New Year!
