Olive's Oil 4If you are needing a bit of cooking adventure or are shopping for the chefs on your list, specialty olive oils and balsamic vinegar might be the ticket. Recently, friend Deb and I spent a delightful afternoon tasting our way through the hundreds of offerings available at Olive’s Oil: Outrageous Oils and Such located at 5200 Fountains Dr. NE in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.Olive's Oil 5

The proprietor suggested pairings, recipes, and provided cooking inspiration. We experimented with oil and vinegar combinations that were so delightful we laughingly suggested we could serve them as cocktails at our next neighborhood gathering. To our surprise, we learned that Zepplin’s, a nearby pub, already made this discovery and adds Olives Oil’s White Peach Balsamic Vinegar to their Olives Oil® Skinny Margatini.Olive's Oil 1

I limited myself to five choices: Honey Ginger White Balsamic Vinegar, Tuscan Herb Infused Olive Oil, Dark Chocolate Balsamic Vinegar, Blood Orange Olive Oil, and Rosemary Olive Oil. So far, I added the Dark Chocolate B.V. to my bar-b-q sauce used in shredded venison and also added a bit to chili. In both cases, my taste buds were delighted with the results. I also tried the Honey Ginger White B. V. whisked with oil as a dressing used over a chicken and citrus salad. Delicious!
